Prosperity Pig

In Chinese tradition,
the Pig is often associated with abundance,
comfort, and a life free from worry.

For farming families,
raising pigs was closely connected with a household’s prosperity.
A well-fed pig was a sign that there was enough grain,
enough food, and enough security for the seasons ahead.

Because of this, the Pig became a symbol of fullness rather than excess—
an image of having what is needed and sharing it with others.

In folk art and New Year decorations,
pig imagery is often used to express wishes for prosperity,
good harvests, and a home filled with plenty.
